Source Positioning Repeatability
Time-lapse (4D) acquisition

The source distance crossline (SourceDC) display is used to best steer the source to the desired track, whether that be the preplot or the baseline source track as loaded from the baseline P1/90 dataset, as shown to the right. A tolerance window can be set around the preplot line to visually indicate that the source distance crossline is within specification. The source offsets, in relation to the preplot, are continually visible together with an indication of the quality of the steering in relation to the tolerance set.

Source positions on numerous 4D surveys have been analyzed and relative inline and crossline offsets calculated. The data indicate that, with careful planning and an experienced crew, it is possible to accurately re-position the baseline source positions.
