Land Q-Technology has brought about a revolution in onshore seismic imaging through acquisition and processing of high-channel-count point-receiver surveys. The ability to deploy and process data from a high number of point receivers, each generating a single digital channel of seismic data, has enabled WesternGeco to provide clearer images of complex geology and deliver superior reservoir description for appraisal and development.

UniQ
UniQ is a point-receiver acquisition and processing system capable of acquiring up to 150,000 channels in real time.

Introduced in 2008, UniQ is designed to extend the capabilities of Q-Technology for onshore surveys in several ways:

Capacity: Higher point-receiver channel capacity
Flexibility: Support for a wide range of point-receiver spacing options
Efficiency: Continuous acquisition and support for simultaneous source techniques

Furthermore, UniQ can be used from arctic to desert operating conditions.

Q-Land
First introduced in 2002, Q-Land is a point-receiver acquisition and processing system capable of acquiring up to 30,000 channels in real time.

To date (October 2008), Q-Land has been used to provide point-receiver land seismic solutions on over 40 projects across 4 continents.

Point-receiver Geophysics
The combined ability to record point-receiver data with variable density and apply complimentary digital group forming (DGF) techniques allows a complete rethink of the way that 3D onshore exploration is performed. Point-receiver geophysics enables a much lower sensor density compared to a conventional survey solution and yet still provides a superior prestack signal-to-noise ratio through the application of DGF techniques that are tailored to the local survey noise conditions and selected sensor density.

The process of taking the raw sensor measurements and generating a clean 'group-formed' trace is made possible by the WesternGeco DGF process. The resulting clean prestack data are the key to producing outstanding imaging results at any stage of oilfield exploration and development.

VIVID—Fit-for-purpose Q-Technology Surveys
The VIVID acquisition methodology involves interleaving Q-Technology surveys to optimize seismic investment throughout the life of an asset. As the asset matures, new point-receiver surveys can be interleaved with the data acquired during the exploration phase to generate progressively higher-resolution images.
