The Schlumberger geophone accelerometer (GAC) is used in both the Q-Land and UniQ systems. It is also used in the Q-Borehole Vertical Seismic Imager tool (VSI) and Q-Seabed.
The GAC is a motion sensor that delivers significantly reduced signal distortion and increased bandwidth when compared to conventional technology. This is achieved by combining our proprietary 18-Hz velocity geophone with additional circuitry. The resulting frequency response is exceptional, with an essentially perfectly flat response curve throughout the range of seismic frequencies.
The extension of recorded bandwidth thanks to the reliability of the low frequencies recorded enables more stable inversion of the seismic data to acoustic impedance and other reservoir attributes and characteristics.
