The VIVID concept utilizes the fundamentally better measurements provided by WesternGeco Q-Technology and can enable the reuse of previously acquired Q-Technology data to progressively build a clearer and more vivid image of the subsurface as the level of field development increases.

VIVID surveys utilize Q-Technology higher-fidelity prestack data to enable the acquisition of exploration surveys with a lower field effort, which could be lower fold and/or lower source effort than an equivalent conventional survey
VIVID surveys can be interleaved to increase the image density for the required purpose, be it appraisal, development, or reservoir monitoring. VIVID surveys also offer the possibility of following up exploration leads in the same survey time frame, greatly reducing the development cycle time and lowering the cumulative environmental footprint of the overall seismic program.
As the data have a high signal-to-noise ratio and fidelity, they can be reused at each stage of a field's development, ensuring that the exploration investment is not lost.
